About Calgary

Home to world-class winter sports venues and a world-famous rodeo, Calgary is one of Canada’s largest cities. With a thriving oil industry and myriad business opportunities, the metro area is currently home to 1.4 million people. As that number continues to grow, the need for Christ grows with it. Only 5.2 percent of the people identify themselves as followers of Jesus. Churches and missionaries are working on ways to tell more people about the good news of the Gospel, and they need your help.

THE $750 GROUND COST DOES NOT INCLUDE AIRFARE.

– The trip leader will communicate airfare information.

Why serve in Calgary?

%

Evangelical Christians

Only 5.2 percent of its 1.4 million inhabitants claim to believe in Jesus Christ. And currently there is only one Canadian National Baptist Convention (CNBC) church for every 46,365 people.

Local Missionaries

“We’re really asking God for an indigenous movement,” said Bob Shelton, the area’s Send City missionary. “This means getting local leaders to own the strategy and to develop leaders for future plants. But we also want non-local leaders to come and set their hearts on Canada.”

Voted World's Cleanest City

Calgary was voted the world’s cleanest city and diverts 80% of its waste away from landfills.

  • They will put on a block party that will involve getting the word out, setting up, running various components, and sharing the Gospel at the events. Students will also serve the needy through Hope Mission.
  • The group will have a fun day at Banff National Park.

How to pray:

  • Pray for safety as we travel and work.
  • Pray for our team to work well together.
  • Pray for boldness for myself and my team members as we share the saving power of the Gospel.
  • Pray for opportunities and wisdom to share the Gospel in a way that focuses on a real relationship with Jesus, not just religion.
  • Pray that the people of Calgary would realize their need for a savior and come to faith in Jesus.
  • Pray for the church planters that we’ll be working with. Pray that they would be encouraged, equipped, resourced, and be given open doors to reach the people of Calgary. Pray they would remember they are not alone in this mission.
