Church Safety Conference
For: Key leaders/volunteers that serve in the area of safety and/or children/youth ministry.
Cost: Free (Lunch will be provided)
This conference is designed to help churches with safety teams and best practices for working with children and youth. Here are some of the frequently asked questions that we will be looking to address during this conference:
- “How do we recruit and train a safety team at our church? How should they function?”
- “What should our church do when there is a tornado, fire, or medical emergency that occurs?”
- “How should a person or persons be handled if they come to disrupt the worship service or seek to do harm in some way?”
- “How can we train our volunteers who work with children/youth to do all we can to keep children/youth safe?”
The Church Safety Conference will help churches of all sizes with these questions and more. The facilitator of this conference will be Dan Ray, captain of emergency services with the Oklahoma State University police department where he has worked for 25 years. Dan has extensive experience in law enforcement, emergency response, and safety training for schools and churches. He is a member of Eagle Heights Baptist Church in Stillwater.
The conference will be held in four separate locations across our state to enable as many people to attend as possible:
Sept. 1- FBC Piedmont
Sept. 8- FBC Lawton
Oct. 12- FBC McAlester
Oct. 19- FBC Jenks
The event will be the same at each location and will be from 10 AM-3 PM. There is no cost to attend and lunch will be provided. Each person who plans to attend needs to register below and indicate which date/location they plan to attend.
