Constitution & Bylaws
Our Constitution and Bylaws are the organizations governing documents that dictate how we operate and function.
Constitution & Bylaws Amendments
Messengers to the 2023 Oklahoma Baptists’ Annual Meeting (Meeting on Nov. 13-14 at Del City, First Southern) will be asked to consider and vote on revised and amended constitution and bylaws for the Convention.
The proposed documents are available for viewing at oklahomabaptists.org, in accordance with provisions of the current constitution and bylaws, so that Oklahoma Baptists will have an opportunity to review, in advance of the Annual Meeting, exactly what revisions are being proposed.
Note: The proposed documents are presented with deletions striken out and additions in red text.
If you have any questions regarding the proposed documents, Chairman Luke Holmes can be reached at laholmes2@gmail.com.
“It has been a privilege to lead the special task force of Oklahoma Baptists who have been assigned with reviewing and updating our state convention’s bylaws and constitution. This is an important task and this group of pastors and lay leaders represents OK Baptists well, and has done a thorough, thoughtful and excellent job. We invite Oklahoma Baptists to read the proposed updates and prayerfully consider them as we vote on the matter during our Annual Meeting in November.”
Comments from Task Force Members
“It has been my joy to serve Oklahoma Baptists in reviewing the Convention’s Constitution and Bylaws. The proposed amendments are the outworking of much prayer, the seeking of wisdom, and many hours of thoughtful consideration. It is my prayer that you will find the proposed recommendations to better clarify the biblical convictions of Oklahoma Baptists, and to aid Oklahoma Baptists in continuing our cooperative spirit to advance the gospel of Jesus Christ together.”
“The proposed amendments to the Constitution and Bylaws represent countless hours of work. The task force reviewed every word of the current documents to ensure they matched the law, Baptist polity, and Baptist convictions. I hope these proposals clarify the governing documents and are consistent with Oklahoma Baptists’ expectations for the work of their Convention.”
“It was a privilege to work with the task force reviewing the Constitution and Bylaws. Every Constitutional and Bylaw provision was studied with careful exactitude and the amendments presented are the summation of hours of constructive discussion and prayer. I pray the Convention finds the amendments clarify and solidify the cooperative mission of Oklahoma Baptists and Oklahoma Baptist Churches to advance the Gospel together.”
Oklahoma Baptists Annuals
The Oklahoma Baptists Annuals for the following years are available.
Please note that in most cases these are large pdf files and may take several minutes to download. Each file is searchable. Many of the archived annuals were scanned from original printed books and have pages that were left blank intentionally. A few of the scanned annuals have handwritten notations that were made in the only file copy available.
