Oklahoma Baptist Children’s Chorus

The OBCC is in their 11th season and we are anticipating another year of beautiful music and a wonderful experiences for this group. How exciting it is to hear a new generation of musicians sing and develop their voice of praise and worship. If you are a student in the 4th through 7th grade we are so glad you have joined us on this great adventure.

The Oklahoma Baptist Children’s choir is eager to be back in person for a new season.  Beginning their 11th season for 2023-2024, the OBCC is open to all 4-7 graders. It is exciting to hear a new generation of musicians sing and develop a voice of praise and worship. The OBCC rehearses at the Baptist Building in Oklahoma City, and they sing across the state of Oklahoma, bringing a fresh and beautiful voice as they worship in our churches and other venues.

Auditions are held at Cross Timbers Camp, W.A.C.K. or by appointment.

Wynn Anne Hook

Wynn Anne Hook

Director

Wynn Anne Hook is a graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University with a degree in Music Education and has taught public school music and continues to teach private piano. She has directed the Singing ChurchWomen small groups and directed one of the three choirs on their mission trip to Romania and is the handbell director for the west choir. She is the church pianist at Village Baptist Church in Oklahoma City.

Wynn Anne has led conferences in the children’s music in several states and has directed the Young Musicians Camp for Capital Baptist Association several times. In 2003 she directed the choir for Billy Graham’s Kid Gig in Oklahoma City. She also directed the Louisiana Children’s Honor Chorus. She has written articles for Chorister’s Guild and has written children’s choir curriculum for Lifeway.

Deanne Maynard is a member of the First Baptist Church in Washington, OK.  She loves serving the Lord in her church by serving as Children’s Ministry Director.  She is also the Director of her church’s Before & After School Care Program.  She has been a member of the Singing ChurchWomen of Oklahoma since 1993 and has served as their secretary and historian.  She has loved serving OBCC for the past 8 years.  If you have any questions about attendance or dues, please contact Deanne at the email above.
Alisa Snead

Alisa Snead is a graduate of Central State University with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Music. She played violin with the Oklahoma Baptist Symphony helping lead the orchestra as it’s Concert Master for many of those years. She has been a lead teacher or an assistant teacher in the children’s choir at Quail Springs Baptist church for the past eight years. She is also currently a violinist in the Quail Springs Baptist Church Orchestra and assists with the QSBC children’s handbells as well as continuing to assist with children’s choir.

After being a public school teacher for 16 years, Alisa decided to stay home with her girls Emilyn and Katie Snead. She currently homeschools them, teaches private piano lessons, and spends her days working with their various activities. Alisa and her husband, Mark, have been married for 14 years and are very active members of Quail Springs Baptist Church.

Stephanie Melton

Stephanie Melton

OBCC Assistant

Born and raised in Wilburton, Oklahoma, Stephanie has been married to Raymond for 30 years, has 3 grown children and 5 grandchildren. She has been a church accompanist for 45 years and is presently at First Baptist Midwest City. A graduate of EOCS and CSU (now UCO) with a  Bachelors and Masters in Music education, she taught Elementary Music for 30 years in the Mid-Del school system and 5 years part time at St. Philip Neri Catholic School.  She is the keyboard strings player for SCW East, accompanies the Parkinson Foundation Choir and accompanies for school solo contests and sometimes musicals.

How to Join

Financial Obligations

New Children’s Chorus members will pay a $45  membership fee which includes the cost of music and an OBCC shirt.
Returning Children’s Chorus members pay a $30 annual membership fee which includes the cost of music.

Music

Children’s Chorus music will be kept at the Baptist Building, but some songs will be posted here for rehearsal purposes only.  Please right click on the song title, choose “save target as”, then put the music in a folder on your computer to be burned to a CD or just listen to it here or in your computer folder.  All music is saved in an mp3 format.

Concert Uniform

In an attempt to choose styles that would best fit all of the boys and girls and also in the interest of modesty, here is the information about the uniforms that have been selected for all OBCC performances. BOYS and GIRLS Shirts: Blue Polo shirts with the OBCC logo. These will be available before the first performance–please bring $45 cash or check to the retreat (make checks to BGCO). This includes the cost of the concert shirt and the OBCC t-shirt and music.

Boys

Black polyester dress pant, black belt, black dress shoes, and black socks.

Girls

Black A-line or straight skirt hemmed at 1 inch below the knee. Black flats, no sandals or heels. No white socks, please.
