About Utah

HopeValley Church is located in West Jordan, UT, a suburb of Salt Lake City. The Salt Lake Valley is exceptionally beautiful with stunning mountain views in every direction, but it’s also very spiritually dark. The Copper Hills community, which makes up the west side of West Jordan, is home to nearly 60,000 people. HopeValley Church is the only English-speaking, Bible-based church that meets in this area. About 60% of people are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and less than 3% of people are evangelical Christians.

One of the unique aspects of Utah culture is that they place a very high value on family, which means there are lots of amazing parks all over the community. In the summer HopeValley Church utilizes these parks as a place to minister in their community by being a blessing to their neighbors through camps and parties. GoStudents will help HopeValley be a consistent light of the one true Gospel in these parks and neighborhoods where over 97% of the population is lost. Our team will be hosting block parties, engaging neighbors, and reaching thousands of homes with news about a brand-new church plant starting from one of our very own Oklahoma church planters.

Why serve in Utah?

Church Membership

Despite its reputation as a religious city, there is only one Southern Baptist church per 40,460 people. Sadly, over 97% of the people do not know Jesus as Lord.

Unique Features

Utah has incredible natural beauty with its amazing mountain ranges, and is home to some of the kindest people anywhere.

Salt Lake City is the largest city in the state as well as the world headquarters for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Unreached People

“Though it is hard for many people to believe there is a place in the United States that is, basically, unreached, Salt Lake City fits that description,” said Salt Lake Send City missionary Travis Kerns. “Although The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints controls much of the region, God has continually worked throughout the history of redemption through a small remnant.”

How to pray:

  • Pray for those leading the efforts in each community we’ll be working in.
  • Pray for the broken people in the area in need of hope and also for the workers to bring them a harvest of hope.
  • Pray for the Holy Spirit to prepare the hearts of the people in Tulsa to receive the Good News.
  • Pray for our team to work well together.
  • Pray for boldness for myself and my team members as we share the saving power of the Gospel.
  • Pray for opportunities and wisdom to share the Gospel in a way that focuses on a real relationship with Jesus, not just religion.
